Cigar Review - Macanudo Café Crystal

I must admit that I was turned away by Macanudo for awhile. It was disheartening that I’d find so many of the cigars at your local gas station, grocery store, bar, restaurants, etc. I was getting overwhelmed with the site of them, as well as not enjoying the oversaturation of the brand. Most of the times when I did try and partake in a Macanudo cigar, I was reminded that rarely any shops outside of a well kept tobacco/humidor shop, can keep a good cigar. Then on my search for a really good natural cigar, I decided to try and get back on the Macanudo bandwagon. Normally before I smoke a cigar, I like to read the reviews to see how close or how far I feel to most of the reviews. Strangely, for Macanudo being one of the most popular brands in the country, there really aren’t a lot of reviews being written up about it. I’m wondering if many cigar aficionados feel the same way as me, oversaturated of the brand. Anyway, from the reviews I did see, they were mostly short and positive. (more…)

Silly Income Tax Errors

Ok I did grow up with Income Taxes all around me, but I don’t think that makes me biased when I have a sore spot for simple income tax errors that result in tremendous problems. There is one simple rule when dealing with the government: DO NOT MAKE MISTAKES! They are very hard to correct, and they often look like a cover-up to something else going on. (more…)

Ok so when I decided to start doing reviews, I wanted to get away from my “norm” types and branch out a little. Lately, I’ve had a craving for naturals. I’m not sure why, but I’ve always been partial to maduro’s, but the last few months, I’ve almost started to not enjoy them (as much anyway). So again, I’ve started talking with my tobacconist and he mentioned that Carlos Torano’s came out with a great new Reserve Select cigar. (more…)

Cigar Review - Rocky Patel Connecticut Vintage 1999

Rocky Patel has been a long time favorite of mine, but it’s mostly been the Maduro line that I enjoy. Recently I’ve been switching tastes and craving a more natural wrapper. I always try and get recommendations from my usual cigar guy that I go to. I highly recommend doing this as they can always point you to go the best cigars out there and can usually give tips on pricing and what is comparable to the higher priced alternatives. One of the ones he showed me was the Rocky Patel Connecticut Vintage 1999 cigar. They use a 12 year old Honduran Broadleaf wrapper along with a 5 year filler and binder. Trying this cigar really blew me away! It was very smooth, tasted great, and even had a creamy sensation to it. It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten that taste out of a cigar. (more…)

A Delaware Corporation - What’s so great?

Filed under: Business — Jason Sanchez @ 10:05 am

Well I wouldn’t call a Delaware Corporation “great” but I would say that they are the best corporate havens that we have in the US. Your first answer when you ask people, “why Delaware” is that they are a corporate tax shelter. Which isn’t really true. Although there is no corporate income tax in the state of Delaware, they have one of the heaviest franchise taxes in the US. It costs more to form a corporation there, and even charges a fee to determine whether a fee is owed against a corporation. (more…)
