I have basically grown up in accounting. It’s been the family business since well before I was even born. So through college, I had a ton of different ideas of what I wanted to be. I ended going into accounting, but it came so easy to me. The numbers, the analysis, the double entry bookkeeping… It was all just a part of me. So here I am, with about 13 years of experience in accounting, finance, and business management.
My favorites hobbies include cigars, photography, family and chasing my wife around. I’m a HUGE cigar enthusiast. Mostly stemming from my inability to consume any alcohol, my total of cigarette inhaling capability, and needing to find some sort of vice in my life.
Currently I am the Finance Manager for a global software company called Aspen Technology. It’s been such a great experience because I’ve been able to be on the cutting edge of many technological internet advancements and have been able to apply them to the “old world” of Accounting & Finance. My past experience has often been entailed with technology companies. From retail websites, to IT solutions, to internet marketing and now software.
Currently I’m trying to come up with the solution for calculating a return on investment for social media solutions. Yes I’ve also heard it’s almost impossible, but that’s part of the intrigue that has driven me to figuring it out.
I hold a BBA in Business Management, an MBA in Accounting. I also have a green belt in six sigma, and am a member of the Downtown Houston Association as well as National Hispanic Professionals Organization.
My email is jason@budsblogsite.com Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about anything I write or want to meet up to share a cigar.
Happy blogging!
